If you’re a fan of Subway, like I am, then you are probably also a fan of their cookies!! They actually have several varieties that are all yummy, but I think the Subway Double Chocolate Chip Cookies are a fan favorite! If you have been wanting to duplicate that same deliciousness at home, this Subway Copycat Double Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe should let you do just that!
One of the secret ingredients in this recipe is to use Hershey’s SPECIAL DARK baking cocoa. It gives it a much more rich, chocolatey taste than using just regular baking cocoa.

This is the first recipe for a copy cat cookie that actually tastes just like it, I cooked mine a little too long the first time I was afraid they weren’t done so then I cooked for 2 minutes less next time. Perfect! Fudgy!
I didn’t have dark cocoa but I used the regular Hersheys cocoa and these came out amazing! You have to like the subway version before you can appreciate this version. Several family members thought they were just ok but they never liked the subway version that much either. I LOVE The Subway version and after these completely cool, they taste almost the same. I used Ghirardelli white chocolate chips, used rounded tablespoons for each cookie and added three white chocolate chips on top of each before baking to make it look extra good. It made like 36 cookies. Great recipe.
Do both methods result in the same taste? If not, which is better than the other and which have you had more success with?
Hi I cant wait to make these cookies but instead of Hershey’s Dark baking cocoa can I use Hershey’s Natural Unsweetened? Or normal Cocoa powder?
Thank you…
The Hershey’s Dark is what really gives the cookies their “Subway” chocolate flavor. Give it a try, I wouldn’t feel comfortable saying it would work since I haven’t tried it.
I made these cookies, and used Nestle Toll House Cocia powder, my cookies were thick and not very moist. : (
What did I do wrong?
Hi Trina,
It is hard to say, if it happens again you can add a tablespoon of oil and 1 egg white.
I finally had a chance to try these. Absolutely . Love. Them.
Honestly I liked them better because they are less greasey than subways.
I made these tonight and honestly… They are the BEST cookies I’ve made so far for cookie exchanges this year. My husband couldn’t stop eating them and it was hard for me to stop at just one! Thank you for posting!
Awesome! I love them. Glad you enjoyed.
My second batch burned on the bottom I had it set 350, what went wrong?
It is hard to tell! There are so many variables, oven temp variation, hot spots in the oven, but it could also be the cookie sheets. Dark or non stick maybe try 325 in your oven.
I can’t wait to make these cookie it look so amazing. I love it
Can’t wait to try out this recipe. Thank yuh for this I love subway cookies <3.
Could I substitute the baking soda with baking powder?
Baking soda and baking powder have different properties so I wouldn’t recommend interchanging them.
Hey love the sound of this recipe can I use Dutch process cocoa instead of Hershey? Xoxo
I think you should be able to do that. It will give it a bit of a different taste, but will be delicious!
Hi…I just today had Subway’s chocolate cookies…they are really good! I have thought about trying to get the recipe and found yours.
Anxious to try which I will. I will follow the recipe you have here to the T. I will write my review after I have made them.
